Case study

South San Joaquin Irrigation District — One of the greenest spots in California is the 1.2 MW solar installation at the South San Joaquin Irrigation District (SSJID). As the turnkey solution provider, SunTechnics engineered, procured and constructed the ground mount, single-axis tracking system to provide electricity to the DeGroot Water Treatment Plant. The solar array which began generating energy in early 2008 consists of more than 6,000 modules that will produce 3,320 megawatt hours of output annually. This large installation will provide sustained energy and wipe out a substantial amount of the plant’s $500,000 annual electricity bill.

SSJIDOn the engineering side, Suntechnics was awarded the 2008 Hot-Dip Galvanizing Excellence Award for this project. Galvanized steel is a long-lasting durable finish that is an environmentally sound choice for corrosion protection and an excellent option for municipalities seeking low maintanence on their long-term investment.

SunTechnics shares SSJID’s customer focus and this, combined with our proven engineering and installation strength, made us a strong team. The SSJID solar plant will offset 40,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year and generate enough energy to power 400 average homes. The Conergy Group is proud to be part of their efforts toward energy independence and greenhouse gas reduction; and, we stand behind the district’s promise to provide a reliable water supply to residents in San Joaquin County.
